Critical Loads and Dynamic Modelling

The Critical Loads and Dynamic Modelling (CLDM) project provides the key mechanism by which scientific understanding of the effects of nitrogen and sulphur deposition on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems is translated into policy-relevant predictions of the spatial extent and timescales of damage and recovery.  The CLDM is closely integrated with the Defra Terrestrial Umbrella and Freshwater Umbrella, utilising data and knowledge gained from these programmes to develop and apply the models, and also using models to aid interpretation and understanding of results, and to identify data and knowledge gaps requiring further research.
